An Independent film being made this week on 12th Avenue South in Bartlett Park has residents buzzing about and looking out for movie stars while two reporters compete to sensationalize a largely fictional and self serving account of division among residents.
People here are talking about a lot of things these days but the concerns of a half dozen former members of a neighborhood association are not near the top of our agenda. Nonetheless their complaints have been placed on center stage because they played to the misconceptions of these writers.
One neighbor remarked that only a couple of us on each block subscribe to the newspaper so these stories really have no relevance to us. No wonder fewer and fewer people buy the paper every year. The other free newspaper has virtually no circulation in the black community.
Orlando Jones is shown here on the set of his TV show. He is one of the actors in the film. Several locations in Pinellas County are being used to shoot the new movie, "Misconceptions".

I saw those weird signs with MW on them at the intersection of 11th and MLK and wondered what that was about.
Now I think that must be how the production company lets its people know where to go, without attracting a whole bunch of gawkers.
We did not post this until the film was wrapping up because we also did not want to bring in any traffic.
It was fun watching the crew in action.
Some of the six residents who left will be coming back to the association at this Thursdays meeting.
The "fracture" is healing quickly.
This fictional story was created by two writers and might have become real if residents had started arguing over it. A few people are angry and are calling around. Please tell them to relax, stay positive and come to the meeting to see firsthand what is going on.
I saw them filming today on Ranch Rd.
its right off of keystone rd. they were filming some car scenes.
Thanks for the update Ranchroad.
It looks like it will be a year before we can see the film.
The guy i talked to as they were leaving the set said that it will be coming out over summer. so less that a year.
Good to hear.
