Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, The Legacy of African-American Achievement

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, this year’s speaker for the Debbie and Brent Sembler Florida Holocaust Museum Lecture Series at the College of Education, is an American athlete and retired professional basketball player who is widely considered to be one of the greatest NBA players of all time. In addition to his historic career as a basketball player, Abdul-Jabbar has served as coach for professional and high school basketball teams. As an author, Abdul-Jabbar has published five books, among them Black Profiles in Courage: A Legacy of African-American Achievement, On the Shoulders of Giants: My Journey Through the Harlem Renaissance and Giant Steps (an homage to jazz great John Coltrane). More
